Several prominent people have paid their respects to Kirk, including President Donald Trump, who has called him a “patriot who devoted his life to the cause of open debate and the country he loved so much, the United States of America” in a number of messages.
Following her husband’s death, Kirk’s widow Erika has also spoken out, sharing how she told their three-year-old daughter about his loss.
In an attempt to raise $5 million, a nicotine pouch company called ALP Pouches has set up a page on the Christian crowdfunding website “GiveSendGo“ for Kirk’s family.
With $1 million given by ALP Pouches itself, the total amount raised has surpassed $4 million of its objective in less than 48 hours.
“Our team at ALP is heartbroken by the death of Charlie Kirk – a devoted husband, father, and friend. Love for God, family, and country defined his life,” the description read.
“Charlie leaves behind his wife, Erika, and their two young children. As they navigate this unimaginable loss, we want to rally together to provide security and stability for Charlie’s loved ones.”
“Our goal is to raise as much as possible to support the Kirk family. ALP has contributed $1 million to this effort, and we invite you to join us in honoring Charlie’s legacy by giving whatever you are able. We hope you’ll join us.”
“My husband was killed because he ‘preached a message of patriotism, faith and of God’s merciful love,’” the 36-year-old said in her statement, adding that she will carry on his work, including his podcast, radio broadcasts, and tours.
She continued to say that she wouldn’t let the movement Kirk had built ‘die’, adding: “I refuse to let that happen … All of us will refuse to let that happen.”
“No one will ever forget my husband’s name, and I will make sure of it.”
Erika and their two kids, a one-year-old son and a three-year-old daughter, are left behind when Kirk moves out.
