The Night My Cat Brought Home Puppies

That quiet evening turned extraordinary when I heard Lili shout from the living room: — Mom! She has something in her mouth again! To my astonishment, our tabby cat, Marsa, was carefully carrying a tiny black puppy across the yard.

In a basket already lay four more, their eyes still closed, as Marsa gently placed the new arrival with them and curled around the little ones protectively. I couldn’t imagine where she was finding these puppies or why she insisted on bringing them one by one. As I watched, a loud knock at the door startled us both.

Clutching my hand, Lili looked worried as I opened it to find a policeman standing beside our observant neighbor, Mrs. Miller, her expression serious. The officer spoke calmly but firmly: a deserted doghouse had been found nearby, and the owner reported that puppies were missing.

To my shock, she said that Marsa had been seen carrying them away. My heart sank as I tried to process the news while Marsa sat quietly in front of the officer, seemingly aware of the situation. After a moment, Mrs.

Miller softened, realizing Marsa’s tender care for the puppies. She explained that the mother had passed away and that Marsa’s maternal instincts had taken over. Seeing how peaceful and nurturing she was, they agreed it was best for the puppies to stay with us.

Marsa purred contentedly, pressing the tiny pups close, as if she understood she had found her new little family.
