My Pregnant Sister Was Treated Like a Maid — So I Taught Her Husband a Lesson He’d Never Forget

When I arrived at my sister’s house, I was anticipating a relaxing visit; however, I was surprised to see that she was nine months pregnant and scurrying about like a hired helper while her husband was lounging around like a king. What took happened after that? Just for the sake of argument, let’s suppose that it featured a watermelon, an absurd gamble, and a reality check that he will never forget. It’s not uncommon for some lessons to be loud, dirty, and comically memorable.

I had not seen my sister in more than a year, and since I was going to be in her city on a business trip, I made the decision to extend my stay by a few days so that I could pay her a visit. My body need relaxation, time with my family, and the type of grounding that can only be provided by a sibling.

The instant Maya opened the front door, however, I realized that this visit would not be comfortable in any way, shape, or form.

She had reached the ninth month of her pregnancy and was obviously weary, with her hair adhering to her wet forehead. Although she was holding a hefty basket of laundry with one hand, she was balancing her tummy with the other. When she spotted me, her eyes lighted up, but the grin that she had on her face did not go all the way down.

Jason, her husband, was slouched on the sofa behind her, with a game controller and headset strapped to his head. He was a gaming enthusiast. Because he was so preoccupied with yelling into the microphone as bullets sprayed on the screen, he hardly nodded in my way.

While taking me inside and lowering the laundry basket with a groan, Maya mumbled, “Dinner is almost ready.” He then lowered the basket. Sorry, but the house is a complete disaster.

I had a look around. It was not a chaotic environment at all. On the other hand, it was obvious that she was taking care of everything by herself, including cooking, cleaning, and folding the teeny-tiny onesies that I supposed their child would be wearing in a matter of weeks.

Maya sat down to eat for dinner that evening, which consisted of spaghetti that had been slightly overdone and was lukewarm.

After taking a single mouthful, Jason frowned. Before collecting the dish and heading upstairs, he murmured, “It’s cold,” before leaving the room.

I blinked my eyes. Just now, did he…?

There was a weary shrug from Maya. He’s been under a lot of pressure at work.

“Do you work?” I repeated myself. The whole evening has been spent with him playing video games.

I was given a glance by her. “I beg you, not at this time. I am much too exhausted to debate.”

with addition to folding baby blankets, I assisted her with clearing the dishes, loading the dishwasher, and loading the dishwasher. My thoughts kept going back to Jason, the guy who was meant to be her partner and her support system. But all I could think about was Jason. Instead, he behaved as if he were a very mature adolescent who was being coerced into sharing a room with a roommate he hardly liked.

After waking up the next morning, I saw him in the kitchen, looking blankly at his phone while a piece of toast that had been burned was sitting on his plate.

I said, “Morning,” while making an effort to maintain a neutral tone. Then, uh… The arrival of Maya is imminent. Wouldn’t it be about time that you began putting in a little bit of effort?

It was a snort. “She is doing ok. Women are known to do this. My mother raised four children without ever expressing any dissatisfaction.

It was really close to falling over. Are you sure that she is okay? Are you under the impression that bringing in laundry, cooking, cleaning, and getting ready for work is considered “fine”?

He made a shrugs. “She desired to have this child.”

I inhaled deeply through my nose and exhaled quickly. “Jason, I bet you wouldn’t make it through a single day if you were to do what she does.”

His attention was drawn to something. He smirked at me as he glanced up from his phone and stared at me. Is that such a difficult task?

I responded by folding my arms at my sides and said, “Oh, it’s absolutely a challenge.” You will have me as your maid for the rest of your life if you are able to do all of her tasks for a single day while wearing a pregnancy simulator. Nevertheless, if you are unsuccessful, you must begin to behave like a genuine partner right away.

It was a laugh. “I deal. Appear to be a simple task.”

Sweetly, I smiled at you. “Excellent. ” It is tomorrow am when we begin.

However, what he failed to see was that I had a very particular strategy in mind. The next afternoon, when Maya was taking a break on the sofa, I went to the grocery store and selected the watermelon that was the heaviest and roundest that I could reasonably handle. When we got back to our house, Maya and I hollowed it down, wrapped it with plastic wrap, and rigged up some straps by using an old backpack harness. With a little ingenuity and some duct tape, we were able to fashion a faux pregnant belly, replete with an odd weight, sloshing movement, and an abundance of pain.

The exact moment I entered their room was 7:30 in the morning. Jason, you must get up and shine. It’s time to get to know your new belly.

He moaned, but he sat up with some reluctance. That is the difficulty, right?

When Maya entered, she greeted him with a warm smile and gave him a list.

On Jason’s list of things to do:

Prepare a breakfast.

Please vacuum the living room.

Do two loads of laundry, fold it, and put it away.

There is a list supplied for grocery shopping.

Take care of cleaning the bathroom, especially the bathtub.

Concoct both lunch and supper.

Paint the nursery with a second layer of paint.

In utter disbelief, he scrutinized me. “What is all this? In a single day?”

My response was, “She does it every single day.” “As a human being is developing.”

Jason murmured a few snide remarks under his breath, but he immediately began working on his first assignment. Doing the morning meal. At the same time that he dropped the bread on the floor, he burnt the eggs. As if we were judges on a culinary contest, Maya and I sat at the counter, drinking tea and watching the competition.

Then the washing was done. While he was bending down to pick up a sock, the watermelon belly caused him to lose his equilibrium unexpectedly. With a sigh, he pressed himself into the wall by accident.

Is your self-assurance still strong? I inquired without malice.

Vacuuming was an even more unpleasant experience. His legs were entangled with the cable, and he continued running into various pieces of furniture. By the time midday rolled around, he was saturated in perspiration, and his T-shirt seemed to be ready to burst through the watermelon belly it was covering.

During his stay in the supermarket, he made three phone calls.

Do you have any almond milk? Why are there two distinct varieties of parsley? What are the key distinctions between yams and sweet potatoes?

When he got back to his house, he abruptly fell on the ground with his arms held out and a loud sigh.

“I’m going to die.”

I reminded him, with a sneer on my face, that we still needed to clean the bathroom.

In his defense, he made an effort. However, as soon as he got down on his knees to clean the bathtub, the watermelon moved, causing him to moan in discomfort. “It is attempting to take my life,” someone said.

Maya and I were unable to contain our laughter.

The painting of the nursery was the nail in the coffin. Comedy gold was found in the act of balancing on a step stool while attempting to avoid tipping forward. His hands were stained blue, and the watermelon was sliding down his hips by the time he finished. The trim lines were shaky, and by the time he finished, his hands were stained blue.

His eyes were hazy, and his hair was sticking up in a wildly erratic manner when he dropped into the sofa at dusk.

In a gulp, he said, “I give up.” “I was completely unaware of it. I was under the impression that she just… slept the whole day. It’s completely crazy.

Maya was standing next to him, her expression kind. “Don’t worry about it. But it was essential that you see.”

When Jason glanced up at her, he saw that his eyes had adopted a new expression. I am sorry. Comprehension is required.

After I had arrived, he joined me in cleaning up that night for the very first time since I had come. He was responsible for folding a baby onesie, doing the dishes, and adjusting the screws on the crib for the infant. Although it was not flawless, it was a good beginning.

The next several days brought about a transformation in Jason. Maya was not prompted to request that he prepare breakfast for her. While they were at their final prenatal checkup, he not only meticulously cleaned the bathroom but also made notes on the situation. Every night, he would touch her swollen feet, and if she had a bout of vertigo, he would be immediately there to assist her in sitting down and assist her in drinking water while his hands were trembling.

The moment when Maya went into labor was the most significant shift.

No panic set in for Jason. While he was at her side, he continued to hold her hand and murmur words of support to her. It was impossible for him to take his gaze off of her, and when they welcomed their daughter Lily into the world, I saw his whole existence transform.

During his embrace, he held her as if she were made of porcelain and moonlight.

He hushed, “She is flawless,” as he spoke.

During that particular night, Maya slept out in the hospital bed, and Jason came over to me with the infant tucked against his chest.

“Thank you,” he said in a low voice. Because you showed me. for not allowing me to continue being… the man I used to be.”

I cracked a grin. Simply continue to be the kind of person she needs. It is everything that I need.”

When I was about to leave town, Maya gave me such a tight embrace that I could hardly take a breath.

She said, “You gave me back my husband,” while covering her eyes with tears. “And what about our lady? Currently, she has a father on whom she can rely.

I returned her embrace with a full heart. Jason was not flawless, as I was aware. Not a single person is. Nevertheless, when individuals are aware of what is at risk, they are able to change.

Also, what if he ever forgot?

Still, I had that fruit in my possession.

And I would come back.

When I come back, I could bring a pumpkin with me.
